TAIYO TSUKI KYO Ronin Shinobi Jutsu
Sun Moon Buyu Shibu - St Louis Missouri

About Ninjutsu

"Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu practice doesn't include participation in competitions or contests, as the school's training aims to develop the skills to protect ones self and others, through the use of techniques which often focus on the disabling (breaking) of the attacker's limbs and which can also potentially cause their death.

The Bujinkan does not adhere to any guideline or set of rules to limit action or techniques during training, as such many of the staple responses of a student would be inappropriate in most competitions. Specifically however, the Bujinkan is mostly known for teaching koshi jutsu (joint manipulation art), koppo jutsu (bone manipulation art), jutai jutsu (throwing, grappling, ground fighting), dakentai jutsu (strikes), happo biken jutsu (various modern and traditional weapons), and ninpo tactics and strategies (Ninjutsu). The depth of training in the Bujinkan, is designed to open the eyes of the student to the endless possibilities and potential in all situations." [source: wiki]

How To Survive An Apocalyptic Disaster

Plan Ahead

Have basic items such as water, food, lighter, knife, flashlight, batteries, rain poncho, mirror, whistle, compass, map, first aid, large trash bags, extra ammunition, currency - all of this in your "ready-to-go bag".  Have extra fuel and a full gas tank.  At home make sure you have extra food, water and supplies.  Have a predesignated rally point. Plan your escape route.  Do a test run in different weather (you can call it a "vacation").

Run or Hide?

You will have to decide quickly whether to run for the hills or bunker in place.  First, you will want to shield yourself from the danger as much as possible.  Typically this would be the basement, a bathroom, or closet (smaller rooms are reinforced structurally).  If you where caught in the bedroom, you could get into a corner and cover yourself with the mattress (the middle of the room is the most likely to collapse).  If you are unable to remain, then you may consider relocating up-hill and up-wind away from the danger zone.

Dress For Survival

Wool socks will maintain a lot of your body heat even when wet!  So it's good to have wool blankets as well.  Water resistant boots are recommended.  Always have an extra pair of dry socks - you have to take good care of your feet, they are your primary mode of transportation!  A little foot powder wouldn't hurt either.  I prefer under armor tops and bottoms because of their moisture wick fabric as my base layer.  Long sleeve shirts and pants (you don't want to expose your skin), gloves, skull cap, jacket, rain poncho (I also recommend rain suit), scarf or bandana, hat and sun glasses.

Find A Water and Food Source - Yes, in that order!

You can only go 3 days without water, but you could last over a month without food.  The only water you could drink unfiltered is rain, dew, and ice (don't drink snow! unless you mash it tightly, otherwise it will dehydrate you). Otherwise you should always boil your water after you have filtered it.  You can make a filter through some tube/funnel with a cloth or strainer followed by small rocks, then sand, then charcoal (which is burnt firewood), and repeat layers once or twice more.  Boil at least 10 minutes.

Find Survivors & Help

You can use a whistle to alert others of your presence.  This is especially helpful if you are trapped.  Mirrors can be used to reflect sunlight which can be seen for miles.

SOS code for "HELP!"

International Morse code is composed of six elements:

short mark, dot or 'dit' (·)
longer mark, dash or 'dah' (-)
intra-character gap (between the dots and dashes within a character)
short gap (between letters)
medium gap (between words)
long gap (between sentences — about seven units of time)
These six elements serve as the basis for International Morse code and therefore can be applied to the use of Morse code world-wide.

So "SOS" is ... --- ... or "dit dit dit" pause "dah dah dah" pause "dit dit dit" or "short short short" pause "long long long" pause "short short short" which could be a sound, light, or whatever means of communication you have.  Or you can make something in the shape of the letters "SOS" that can be seen from the sky.
